In Chile, the certification of tanks for storage and transportation of fuel is regulated by the Superintendence of Electricity and Fuels (SEC). STI S.A. is a company accredited by INN and authorized by the SEC to certify the following types of tanks:
Fuel transportation tanks must be certified in their manufacture and then re-inspected periodically every 5 years. In addition they should routinely be subjected to hermeticity tests.
Storage tanks must be certified in their manufacture and then subject to periodic inspections. The design and manufacturing criteria are usually set by API 650, UL 58, UL 142, BS 2594, or other international standards.
